Lasting Memories April - Mystic Mountains

Not quite a new month but theres a new challenge theme over at Lasting Memories. This month its all about travel... Perfect theme for me as I have been rather busy with the travel pics lately. I have been trying to complete an album on my last cruise with G45s tropical travelogue and one on our last trip to Thailand using G45s Come away with me (Thinking I need a lot more of it too!)

The first challenge of the month is 'Mystic Mountains' - and boy do I have the perfect photos for it! These pictures are from the last Thailand tour my sister arranged (She is an amazing tour guide - she runs very cheap Thai tours throughout rural Thailand - the places most tourists will never see!) and on this tour we visited a Thai temple up in the mountains. This place was amazing - so beautifully decorated in mosaics and amazing views.

I hope you can come and join in this month!

XOXO/ SBC 433

SBC_Sketch433

When I saw Kerrys layout over at XOXO Scrapbooking this month I was thrilled to find a way to use a whole stack of tiny triangle offcuts I had leftover from making banners. I had these large photos leftover from my cruise pictures and even though they are very blurry I wanted to include them as they showed the cruise disco. I made a second page in a similar style, using a sketch I found over at SBC this month.

Scrap our stash March challenge/ Another freaking scrappy challenge

While challenge browsing this week I cam across this lovely sketch by Karen Gerber, over at Scrap our stash! I have been mostly been making double pages lately - for my cruise album (which is only a few pages away from completion yay!) but I really wanted to give this one a go so I decided to make it as the first page... As per the challenge I added a few gold flowers and arrows. I also decided to play along over at Another freaking Scrappy challenge. I used to play along there all the time then it finished up, but it must have come back.... very exciting!!! The challenge for this month is to use blue. Of course my tropical travelogue themed paged are using a little blue - and for this one I added even extra.....

You can enter each challenge here:

Scrap the boys/ Feeling sketchy March

Got another couple of pages done for my cruise album this morning - Feeling on a roll here! This might actually be my first ever complete coordinated album to be finished....

For these two pages I used sketches from Feeling Sketchys International scrapbooking month challenge and scrapthe boys. As the album is coordinated I matched them as best as I could...

I made myself a kit for this album consisting of G45 Tropical travelogue papers, Kaisercrafts Paradiso collectibles, Primas By the sea flowers and some tags from Scrapmatts along with a few other odds and ends I found. However my G45 papers are starting to run out!!! Its getting harder and harder to coordinate, however this is the end result:

First page for Feeling Sketchy :

Second page for Scrap the boys :

And together:

Stick it down March

Yay - I have completed one more page for my cruise album! I first saw this sketch and tried something else but just couldnt get it to come together.... Then I saw one of the DT entries (Thanks Sharlene!) and liked the idea of completing the sketch using half sized landscape photos. I had the perfect number of photos from the beach at Isle of Pines.

I followed my album theme using  G45 Tropical Travelogue with Kaisercrafts Paradiso collectibles and Prima By the sea flowers and managed to get a few clusters in after humming and haaing for awhile!

Now to fill in some journalling....

Lasting Memories - Anything goes (Friendship theme)

Today the final challenge for March was posted over at Lasting Memories. The theme is "friendship" - anything goes. Make sure you get yours submitted in time!

I was feeling less than inspired, so I started with my scraps bag - using various scraps and punches I started by making some flowers and fussy cutting some other bits from leftover papers. I put them all together and added this cute picture from when my kids were little. They were all cuddling on the bed.

Halloween shenanigans

A few blog posts ago I mentioned this months challenge over at Pixels and Paper (image top left) and how inspiring I found it! My first layout for the challenge was about shoes, but I really wanted to make something with that gorgeous old styled colour theme! So I went through my 'scraps' bag and pulled out everything in shades of brown and red to work with. I actually made this one with my good friend, and we shared papers and stamps - so her similar entry should be popping up soon!I used a photo of my daughter and her friends dressing up for Halloween to fit the clothing theme in the image. Of course my daughter is the 'pretty' witch in the middle. After painting her friends faces she decided that she was too cute to end up with scary makeup, so she had only extra eyelashes painted on - what a princess!!

I decided to follow the sketch over at Cest magnifique, (top right) it was just perfect! The kit this month is to die for - wishing I lived in America!!! I moved the layering to the right a little so you could still see the inking underneath.

This months challenge at Red carpet studios is from the film 'Public enemies' and the requirement is 'The good old days - use a distress technique'. Of course as my layout was inspired by the vintage theme from pixels and paper, good old days fit perfectly and I distressed the edges of each paper with scissors. I also used picassa to make the photo colours more vintage to fit.

This layout is entered into the following challenges:

http://cestmagnifiquekits.blogspot.ca/2015/03/march-sketch-challenge.html
http://pixelsandpaperchallengeblog.blogspot.com.au/2015/03/welcome-to-march.html
http://redcarpetstudiochallenge.blogspot.com.au/2015/03/rcs-93-public-enemies.html

Also - don,t forget its challenge time over at Lasting Memories -This months theme is friendship, and the challenge this week is 'best of friends'. Make sure you come and join in - everyone has a best friend!!!

Lets Scrap DT Reveal

Yay its reveal day again at Lets scrap..... I loved this sketch so much I made two versions - one for my new nephew to be, and I liked it so much I made another baby album for my middle child.

Im really kicking myself that my eldest daughters baby photos were the first ones scrapped (badly) and none were digital.... would have loved to make the kids a baby album each....

This is the fabulous sketch  - you will love creating with it!!! Come and play over at Lets scrap

This is my first version of the sketch - which was also my DT reveal! I used graphic 45s Baby to bride collection along with Kaisercrafts bundle of joy collectibles. I am also linking this page up to Scrap it with a song for the month. This months song is "photograph" by Nickelback. Although the song is about photographs so pretty much any layout would probably fit, these photos really resonate with the song lyrics - (look at these photographs every time I do it makes me laugh/ cry, time to say goodbye.) These photos were from my daughters birth so it was definately a happy time, however this was also the final photo I have of their father, as he died five weeks later. Which is why it resonates with looking at photos making you cry, as well as saying goodbye. Also fitting with the song they are fairly old photos (almost 10 years) and it shows where my daughter initially grew up.

I am also linking up over at Artastic challenge blog. the challenge this month uses the inspiration picture shown blow, and the requirement is to use a quote on your work. I added a quote rubon to the journalling tag at the top in this layout.

My second version of the sketch is below, I am linking this one up over at White with one. This months colour is hemlock, which happened to be perfect for a baby page using Kaisercrafts "bundle of joy" paper range. Cant wait for my sister to fill in this page, I think she is going to love it!

Lets Scrap International scrapbooking Day Challenge

Its always great to see a new sketch over at Lets Scrap! This one is a month long special for international scrapbooking day (March 4th - who knew???) and everyone is eligible to enter - including the DT, YAY!

This week I have been working on an album for a set of photos taken right before I started scrapbooking, from a cruise I took my family on in 2011.... They were the first set of photos I ever scrapbooked  - and boy was it a doozy!!! I chopped up the photos and kind of made a photo collage, completed with some puffy stickers and some journalling..... I actually had an amazing time on the holiday though and figure it might be time to redo them with my stunning Tropical Travelogue paper collection from Graphic 45. I added a set of Prima "By the sea" flowers and a set of Kaisercrafts "Paradiso" collectibles and an ancient set of tropical flower stickers (Dont you love when you use up something that has sat around for years!!! It always gives me a huge feeling of accomplishment)

I posted the first page previously but stuck to the theme with this great sketch!

This set of photos from a Pacific cruise back in 2011 were the first set of photos I ever scrapbooked.... and, like most first albums it was rather terrible. Having recently got hold of the full G45 tropical travelogue collection I wanted to use it to make a nice album for these gorgeous pictures. I couldnt find a double page sketch which worked so I decided to match up two single page challenges. To coordinate both sketches I added a sheet of the blue fish in the background.
Below are both single pages. The photos are from the main beach over at Isle of pines!

Prima/ Stuck/ My creative sketches

I saw the Prima product mix this month and its stunning green and turquoise hues and just had to give it a go.......  The colours made me think instantly of my Prima seashore collection and a bunch of recent photos we took at Stevns Klint, Denmark with a church overlooking a narrow pebbled beach with sheer chalk cliffs. We all had a go at taking "little mermaid" shots sitting on the rocky outcrops over the ocean ad trying to capture the seaspray. We went there at around 9pm with the midnight sun so the muted colours in the photos were perfect for the collection!
PPPMARCH2015

I decided to begin with a couple of sketches that I could turn into a double pager! Eventually I went with this months sketch from Stuck?! and the one over at My creative sketches

This is the completed double page - I am entering over at PPP. You can enter your Prima based projects at: http://prima.typepad.com/prima/2015/03/come-join-in.html

This is the first page I am entering over at Stuck - need to stick a few of the corners down a little better - I hate when mixed media stops everything from sticking properly!

You can enter over at: http://stucksketches.blogspot.co.nz/2015/03/march-1st-challenge-reveal.html

This is the second page I am entering over at My Creative sketches:
