A mini album for me!!!

I spent all of December making some albums for my sisters, and was so pleased with the results I wanted one for myself.... So I made sure we took plenty of Christmas photos so I could design my own for Christmas 2014.

PAGE ONE: SCRAP AFRICA SKETCH CHALLENGE JANUARY

For my first page I interpreted a sketch from Scrap Africa found at:

http://scrapafrica.blogspot.com.br/2015/01/sketch-challenge-no-42.html

My fiance from Sweden  celebrates Christmas on the 24th, and I really didn't need much excuse to open the presents earlier! I used the four squares for the photos and stretched the sketch to two 8 x 8 pages....

PAGE TWO: LASTING MEMORIES- CAPTURED MOMENTS

My second page is a DT assignment from Lasting Memories, this weeks theme is "captured moments". Perfect for these photos of all of us unwrapping presents as we capture - the look on everyones faces as they discover what they have received!

LM has a "life moments" theme this month with 4 different challenges you can enter at the following site:
http://kcclayoutchallenges.blogspot.com

PAGE THREE: Lets get Sketchy Week 3 January

I turned this weeks sketch (below) sideways and stretched it across two pages. We took some family photos with my mother in law on christmas morning, and she supplied some Christmas bush to bring to my mothers.

You can enter over at: http://letsgetsketchy.blogspot.com.au/2015/01/team-january-week-3.html

PAGE FOUR:  Picture this January 1st challenge

The first official challenge over at Picture this requires one photo, a starburst and paint. I managed to include all of these in my next album page. This is my kids at 3am, after discovering Santa had arrived when they got up mid morning for the loo. My daughter must have been really good because she got everything on her Christmas list..... Here she is proudly showing them off after running in to wake me and let me know she got a robodog that does backflips.

Picture this is a great new challenge site - and it even has some free sunburst cut files.... you can join in over at: http://picturethischallenges.blogspot.ca/2015/01/jan-1st-picture-this.html

PAGE FIVE - SCRAPMUCH JANUARY SKETCH #1

There are so few sketches for double pages, I had to use this one from Scrapmuch! This page is all about Aelira, showing every present she got from grandma this year - she was looking cute with a green ribbon stolen from the wrapping paper....

You can enter this double page sketch (shown below) challenge over at:
http://shopscrapmuch.blogspot.ca/2015/01/sketch-y-friday-with-team-a-guest-and.html

PAGE SIX: SCRAPMUCH SKETCHY FRIDAY JANUARY #2

Another Scrapmuch sketch (below), I love this site! So many great sketches to use....this one I stretched and put some photos of Oliver unwrapping his gifts...

You can enter at: http://shopscrapmuch.blogspot.ca/2015/01/sketch-y-friday-with-team-b-and-our.html

PAGE SEVEN: LASTING MEMORIES #228

This weeks theme at Lasting Memories is just perfect for my Christmas album... Im sure that the food is a major part of everyones Christmas celebrations! For this weeks challenge "Sweet as can be" I decided to use this picture of the gingerbread cookies my kids decorated for Santa (and for the rest of us as well)
Its also a perfect excuse to showcase some more of my Graphic 45 Nutcracker sweet collection...

Sweet cookies, sweet kids and sweet collection! Think I nailed it....

Make sure you drag out all those photos of cakes/ sweets or christmas feasts and come and join in over at Lasting Memories this month!

Blog hop!!

Hello and welcome to our very first challenge for 2015 at Lasting Memories! We're celebrating the new year and new Design Team with a blog hop. Super fun right?! If you're just starting the hop, be sure to start at Lasting Memories so you don't miss anyone - if you're last stop was Claire then you're on the right track!
Our challenge theme this entire month is "Life's Moments" and our first challenge is "Life's Simple Pleasures" .. we want to know what one of your simple pleasure's in life is. Chocolate? Coffee? Adorable children, pets or grandchildren?? SO many things to consider and we're excited to see what you create! What's my Simple Pleasure??? Here, let me show you!

The simple pleasures are often the only ones you get as a busy parent so we sure make the most of them! I have decided to create my layout about cuddles. This picture was taken a long time ago (my daughter is almost 11 now!) and those lovely cuddles are very quickly running out so I decided to scrap one before they become a distant memory - (they sure dont happen in photos anymore!) I hope you have enjoyed my contribution and those of the rest of the design team!
Your next stop is Kimberly and when you're all done visiting the new Design Team, we really hope you'll have time to join the fun! All our challenges run for the entire month, so you have time to play! Thanks for stopping by today!

A Winter Christmas mini album

Christmas in Australia is so far from white, but I just love the traditional wintry Christmas pages and have a nice stash of snow themed paper collections.... I decided to use up a few and make a Christmas mini album for my fiances mother, who lives in Sweden....

The album is 8x8 inch layouts

TITLE PAGE - SKETCHABILITIES/ SCRAP AROUND THE WORLD/ CHILDS PLAY/ SCRAP OUR STASH

I really wanted to make the title page special, and reflective of the album theme so I went challenge hunting to find some elements to inspire me! I decided to start with this sketch over at Sketchabilities, and worked in some elements from the moodboards over at Scrap your stash, scrap around the world and childs play.

You can enter each challenge at the following sites:

http://childsplaychallenges.blogspot.com.au/2014/12/classic-movie-polar-express.html
 http://www.sketchabilities.blogspot.com.au/2014/11/sketch-128-design-team-reveal.html
http://scraparoundtheworld.blogspot.com.au/2014/12/december-2014-challenge-20-frosty.html
http://scrapourstash.blogspot.com.au/2014/12/december-stash-challenge-21-photo.html

From the below moodboard from Scrap around the world  I took the wintry theme, the cool blues and white as well as layering snowflakes on top of mixed media, just like in the cupcake.

From the below moodboard and requirements over a Scrap our stash I again took the wintry theme, the softness of the snow around the glasses and the sequins and glass jewel around the page. I also added plenty of glitter  to meet the challenge requirements. The fussy cut items are all from collection remnants I have had stashed for years....

From the challenge theme of the classic movie "the polar express" over at childs play, I took the theme of snowing in the night, and made my background a deep blue with modelling paste snow. I also used starry night cardstock to mat the (future) photo.

PAGE ONE - THE COLOR ROOMS/ CEST MAGNIFIQUE

For this layout I used the sketch from Cest Magnifique, stretched into a double pager, and the colour scheme from the color rooms December. I also cut out little christmas ornaments from some wrapping paper and glued them on...

PAGE TWO - S.W.A.T WINTER MOODBOARD CHALLENGE

I made this clean and simple page from a gorgeous wintry moodboard I found over at S. W. A.T. Its such a shame your only allowed one entry as I could create a thousand pages from this moodboard, its so gorgeous!!! I used the wintry forest scene to inspire the use of the snowy scene background paper and added a snowflake and title reflecting the blues. It will take 4 2x3 inch photos down the sides.... You can find this challenge over at: http://swatscrapwarriorsadvancedtraining.blogspot.ca/2014/12/drill-45-white-winter-mood-board.html

PAGE THREE - BERRY71BLEU/ FROSTED DESIGNS DECEMBER

This layout was inspired by a combination of the moodboard (below)over at Berry71Bleu, and the frosted designs Friday challenge - Create a Christmas layout without using red or green. Since this is my wintry Christmas album I decided to take inspiration from the wintry colours on the top left corner of the moodboard, with the icy whites and deep royal blue, keeping the colours on the layout to blue, white, grey and a splash of purple.

You can enter these challenges over at:

I made this page to follow the December white with one challenge - white and paloma (grey)

A Thai wedding

My second project for this month is going to be an album for my sister and brother in law. They had a very colourful and amazing wedding in Thailand and so Id like to make her an oriental themed album for her wedding/ Thailand photos using my DCWV Far east and Graphic 45 Birdsong collections.

PAGE ONE - SCRAP THE BOYS DECEMBER

Here is my first page. I decided to base it on a sketch I found over at Scrap the boys stretched to a double page (with a couple of extra photos added). Although my page doesnt have any photos on it as she will add them herself, the layout is very masculine with bold colours to add photos of the groom and his groomsmen, who wore gold.
You can enter this challenge at: http://scraptheboys.blogspot.com.au/2014/12/december-challenge-our-sponsors.html

PAGE TWO - DCWV DECEMBER STACK A HOLIC CHALLENGE

Another stretched sketch - this one is from DCWV Stack a holic challenge over at: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com.au/

It will hold 3 vertical 6x4 photos

PAGE THREE - SCRAPMUCH SKETCHY FRIDAY DECEMBER #2

For this layout I used the sketch below, turned and stretched! You can enter at Scrapmuch:
http://shopscrapmuch.blogspot.ca/2014/12/sketch-y-friday-with-team-b-and-some.html

I have used the two circles at the forefront as photo mats where she can add her pictures.

My Christmas mini album

Thanks to a nasty unlucky streak, I am rather destitute this Christmas, so I have decided to make all my Christmas presents with supplies I already have..... I put together my own "Christmas kit" consisting of a few sheets of Kaisercraft Turtledove collection, the remainder of my G45 Nutcracker sweet collection, the remainder of a Bobunny Christmas themed notecards page and a packet of Kaisercrafts twig and berry collectibles and started on some mini albums for my family members.

Just for the record I have been updating this post with each page as I make them, each update doesnt change the date of the original posting...

PAGE ONE - SCRAPMUCH

My first mini album (8x8) is for my youngest sister, who also loves scrapbooking but simply does not have the time between her husband and young child. Below is my first page, which will take a 4x6 and 3 2x2 inch photos.

This page was inspired by the latest Sketch y Friday challenge over at Scrapmuch

 http://shopscrapmuch.blogspot.ca/2014/11/sketch-y-friday-with-team-a_28.html

PAGE TWO - STUCK SKETCHES

My second page is a stretched out sketch from Stuck?! - which was just perfect for the double page spread. You can enter at http://stucksketches.blogspot.co.nz/2014/12/december-1st-challenge-and-gdt-call.html

PAGE 3 - SKETCHES IN THYME

My third pages also stretches out a sketch -  this one I found over at Sketches in Thyme this month
http://sketchesinthyme.blogspot.com.au/2014/12/sketch-135.html

PAGE 4 - MY CREATIVE SKETCHES/ ARTASTIC

This page was inspired by this months sketch (below) over at My creative sketches: http://mycreativesketches.blogspot.com.au/  Whilst they don't accept entries into more than one challenge Im sure they will appreciate seeing another interpretation of their sketch anyway...
I also used the Artastic colour challenge criteria (below), although I pretty much stuck to the traditional colours with a yellow tag and both blues in the santa and reindeer picture. You can enter their December challenge over at:

PAGE 5 - LASTING MEMORIES HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

I made this layout to fit with The Lasting Memories theme for December of Christmas traditions. Whilst the layout is for my sister and is therefore photo free, it is about the Christmas tradition of writing a wishlist for Santa. My kids love to write letters to Santa including all the gifts that they want!

PAGE 6 - OFF THE RAILS SCRAPBOOKING DECEMBER CHALLENGE

I made this layout using the colour palette over at Off the rails scrapbooking, I used the gold on the mini Christmas trees! You can enter over at: http://offtherailsscrapbooking.blogspot.co.nz/2014/12/december-challenge.html

PAGE 7 - RED CARPET STUDIOS DECEMBER CHALLENGE

This months challenge over at Red Carpet Studios is based on the movie 'ELF'. Requiring a layout based on the holiday season. Of course I am basing my entire album on the holiday season, so I am linking up my newest page with Red Carpet Studios...

PAGE 8/ 9 - PAPERCUT LABS

I am entering these pages in the 12 days of Christmas blog hop over at Papercut labs
There are 12 different challenges  and a whole lot of prizes, as well as a free December class....

FINAL PAGE - KAISERCRAFT DECEMBER CHALLENGE

Since the Kaisercraft December challenge was very much a one pager I decided to make the finalpage of my album using their criteria. I mixed elements and papers from Twig and berry, Turtledove and Be Merry Christmas collections. I originally stuck down the tickets, but then remembered the photo needs to go there! The tickets will go back down once my sister adds her photo....
