Some October stuff

So sad to see this is the final challenge at Sketchabilities!I just love the sketches there... I decided I needed to play along, and added one more layout to my school photos album...This is Michelle in year two (she is finishing year 6 now!!)

And below is another layout for my Swedish summer album  - A night in Tivoli...I used a sketch from one of my go to double layout challenges over at Stick it down. If only my actual layout would stick... must be too hot for the tape!!!

My Creative Sketches September

While creating this morning I was going through my previous albums and found my rather unfinished school photos album. It hadnt been touched since I first started scrapbooking and only had my daughters first few years. I thought that, as my eldest finishes year six this year it might be time to get up to date on this album and went looking for a suitable single page single photo sketch to get started. I found this one over at My Creative Sketches and started back at the beginning, with my youngest's kindergarten photo.... Sketch and layout shown below:

Lasting Memories October #2

Another Sunday at LM means a new reveal - this weeks theme is "summer fun" and requires the use of paper/ silk flowers.

My layout shows probably the best summer ever - especially because I escaped winter here! I spent it in Sweden with my fiance and family playing on the stunning islands in the Gothenburg archipelago!

Dont forget to come and play at http://kcclayoutchallenges.blogspot.com.au/ - there are 4 fantastic challenges this month to play along with!

Sketches in Thyme reveal

Finally time for my reveal over at Sketches in thyme! This sketch is fantastic, and I had a lot of fun playing with circles and fussy cut flowers. I began this layout with the final remains of my DT goodies from Close to my heart. The papers and small 'love lots' sticker are from the 'Zoe' collection - a gorgeous collection in coral, grey and pale blue available at http://kimberlysparks.ctmh.com/.

Lasting Memories October!!!

Wow, cant believe we are this close to the end of the year... it just keeps racing by! Today at Lasting Memories opens the first of our October challenges. The theme for October is 'hot hot hot' and the requirements are: sketch/ liquid glass and a campfire theme. Wow this was really tricky for me - I had never heard of liquid glass and had to go back 15 years to find any campfire photos.... (As a single parent of 3 I have never really been able to go camping, tents and lighting campfires are in the too hard basket!!)

Below is my version, and the sketch! Dont forget to come and play - you have until the end of October...

Lets get arty September Challenge

Whilst browsing my favourite challenge sites this month I came across this beauty over at Lets get arty:

I just love the inspiration picture - its gorgeous!!

It was also very perfect for the album  I have been working on - showcasing my last trip to Sweden, with loads of photos of their stunning forests and scenery.... Below is my double age entry inspired by the picture: (Unfortunately I cannot seem to get decent photos as I cant find my camera battery charger and my phone always makes blur on the right side!!)

Lasting Memories #259

This week we have a fantastic challenge going over at Lasting Memories!!! The challenge is to use ink splatters and mixed alphas - my mixed alphas are a little difficult to see in this pic, but I titled it 'by the sea' and added a whole lot of fussy cut flowers and ink splatters! Make sure you come and get your entry in by the end of the month!!

Stick it down September double page

Yay, another day  - another month - and a lovely new double page sketch from Stick it down... My other favourite double page sketch site!

This months sketch was a little unusual, and completely perfect for the floral Sweden album I am currently making.

And my version (I know I need to avoid crummy nighttime photography but I make them and I just want to show everyone now!!!):

Scrap the girls September

This was one of those nights where, as I perused the new challenge blog sites for September I cam across one that I just had to do right now.....

The current album Im working on is from our holiday to Sweden last year and Im combining elements from 3 different collections to try to fit a combination of forest, city beach and tropical photos in!

Anyway after a very travel themed album I had previously been working on, Im really enjoying making this one a lot more floral and pretty and I came across the sketch challenge over at Scrap the girls - I knew it was perfect....

Instead of the journal card I used two photos, and stretched it over two pages (Im liking my albums much better all coordinated...) and here is the finished layout!
I had these two photos from when we went to pick raspberries... the girls were dressed up all Swedish with their pastel cardigans, pretty dresses and Heidi plaits - they were so cute!!! We pretty much lived on raspberries with vanilla sauce for a month

Techniques, titles and a new album!

Nothing like the beginning of the month for a scrapbooker.... Finding all the newest challenges and deciding which photos and sketches I will be able to complete for the month!

Luckily I had a lovely scrapping day yesterday with my bestie. We had scones with jam and cream, tea and a new album to start! As the previous album I have been working on was very "travelly" and linear I think I will enjoy this one, which will be a lot more floral...

The first layout I need to show everyone, however is for the newest challenge over at Lasting Memories

The theme for this month is " techniques and titles", and the first challenge requires MIXED MEDIA with A BOLD TITLE

Here is my first layout for the month:

I also found this fantastic challenge over at Artastic this month.... It is to use the inspiration picture below to create your layout. For mine I was inspired firstly by the sand and sea, secondly by the exotic location - I tried to exoticise my layout a little with the pink peacock background paper...

And over at Pixels and paper was this lovely floral inspiration challenge:

which inspired the following very floral layout!

Been scrappin

It was so nice to spend the day today with my bestest scrappy friend!! We popped a bottle of toffee apple soda, and a packet of mini mars bars and got to work together...

I have been on a mega mission to get this holiday album finished  - photos from a Thai tour we did last year, run by my amazing sister at Nukzu Thai tours.
In my sketch searching I came across a few that I was very keen to do!

I found two fantastic sketches over at Scrapmuch -  a single page sketch for the title page, and a double:

 http://shopscrapmuch.blogspot.ca/search?updated-max=2015-08-03T04:00:00-04:00&max-results=5&start=10&by-date=false

And my versions....

The title page shows us leaving on our big adventure, and the double shows the temple our donations are assisting to build. We visited the (temporary) temple and received blessings from the monks while the middle pictures show us giving the donations and the half finished building... It was such an amazing experience!

My final page was based this months double sketch from Pagemaps - this one shows the fantastic Thai cultural show in the village. The entire village turned up and set up food stalls down the street. All the westerners were treated like royalty, and everyone was vying for a conversation or to touch hands with us - so this what celebrity feels like!!!

I am entering this one into the anything goes challenge over at clique kits!! Make sure you link up.... https://cliquekits.wordpress.com/2015/08/08/clique-kits-august-challenge/

Stick it down double page August sketch

Im on a mission now to complete a few albums!!! I finally got another set of Graphic 45s "Come away with me" to complete the album I have been working on for months, from my Thai tour....

There are just so many pictures!!!

For this layout, the lovely double page sketch at Stick it down had a lot of space for photos of various sizes,so I decided to use all these colourful pictures from the Thai markets and add some pops of red from another collection to bring it together.

Below is the sketch and my layout:

Lets get sketchy August #2

For my final page of my baby album I needed to find a sketch which would use up the odd sized pieces I had left from the rest of the album.... I had no large pieces, but already had one cut into a banner  so I was thrilled to come across this sketch challenge over at Lets get sketchy, which was perfect for the papers I had!!

Its so good to complete this album, and sit it proudly on the shelf.... its my second completely coordinated album.... yay

Make sure you come and play along - especially if you have a few bits and pieces to use up!! You can enter at: http://letsgetsketchy.blogspot.ca/2015/08/team-b-august-week-2.html

Lasting Memories August #3

And its Sunday again (well its about half an hour until Monday here) which means its time to post my DT layout for Lasting Memories.... Each challenge is revealed on Sunday and goes until the end of the month

The criteria for this week is to use a star or sunburst on your layout so here is mine:

My final double pager for my daughters baby album. Feels so good to have things finished!!!

Cest magnifique August sketch challenge

I finally got a chance to flick through the many sketch challenges this month, looking for the perfect sketch for the title page of my daughters baby album, and this one piqued my interest - I love the floral frame around the photo! I decided to give it a shot with what I had.... I didnt have enough coordinating flowers left to quite pull it off but I love the way it turned out....

I had to leave a space for the photo, as the one I want to use was a professional shot, and it is at my mothers house which is two hours away. Hopefully I dont forget to pick it up!!!

You can enter this stunning sketch challenge over at: http://cestmagnifiquekits.blogspot.com.au/2015/08/august-sketch-challenge.html
Dont forget to have a look at the kit for this month - it is to die for...

Final DT Assignment for Lets Scrap

It is with great sadness that I am posting my final DT assignment for Lets Scrap! Sob....

I love this challenge site and the amazing sketches by Michelle Van Wyk, but I just didnt have time over the last month to submit for another term so now I will have to wait and see the sketches as they are posted just like everyone else!!! Make sure you dont miss playing along, this is the best ever site for double page sketches!!

This is the sketch challenge for 15th August, and its a very unusual one - It looks like a few of the DT found it perfect for sports photos, as I did!!

And my layout - I have endless photos from my daughters National club championship routines, as I purchased the lot..... so I thought this one was perfect for showcasing my daughters level 4 beam routine from last year. I kept it fairly clean and simple to highlight the many photos and love the result.

Now for the other 300 photos from that day....

Lets Scrap August sketch

Another month, and another gorgeous sketch challenge over at Lets scrap!! Unfortunately I used very faint colours in this one and it was almost impossible to photograph, so I did the best I could...

Almost finished my baby album!!

Lullaby

I found this fantastic sketch over at My creative sketches and instantly saw a great double page possibility...

I decided to stretch the whole design and add an extra  photo to fit with my baby album. I only have the final few pages to go - which is very exciting! Miss Aelira has been loving checking each page as I finish and deciding whether or not she was the cuter baby...

Here is my take:

Come and get your entry in over at My creative sketches - entries dont close until mid August, so plenty of time to complete this cute sketch challenge!
