Scrapfriends June sketch challenge - At play

June has been such a busy month that I have hardly had any time to enter any challenges..... I saw this sketch at Scrapfriends at the beginning of the month and fell in love with it (and Zenevas version). I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it (pictures plus double page), but had to find the photos in my pigsty of a bed(scrap)room. Well now that I only have one day left to get some entries in it had to be this one first! Unfortunately I dont own any arrow punches, templates or stamps nor did I have anything to make rings so my cutting is a long way from professional but I can live with that.

I used DCWV's Stardust stack for the background, Texture paste, Glimmer mists in green and blue, Kaisercrafts Botanical Odyssey 6" paper pad, black cardstock, Thickers letters and my very beloved WOW Nested circle chipboards.

The photos are from our funhouse adventure at Oktoberfest in 2009. I love this set of pictures and this is finally the last of them scrapped - yay!

Scrap Africa June 15th challenge - 1,2,3...

This is my creation for the mid month challenge over at Scrap Africa. The requirement is the use of texture paste and paint. I decided to use these photos from Karlovy Vary, where the children tasted the many different natural spa waters from the regions many springs. I wanted to capture the concrete brick and motion of water of the fountains in the layout. I used the texture paste to  add some bricks to the background then spritzed some paint and attempted to doodle in the water motions to represent the water fountains then added some water themed embellishments.

Zeus and Zoe June challenge - School dress ups - Retro, Sydney

I have decided this month to try to tackle those difficult, generally multi page, layouts Ive had set aside for awhile for being too hard. Hence I pretty much havent even gotten anything done except stare at photos for some time. I actually managed to complete this one! I made this layout for the June challenge over at Zeus and Zoe.  A not too difficult requirement for some difficult photos! The theme is 'favourite things' and I have included several on this layout. These photos are from my birthday back in 2008, and I invited a few favourite friends to my favourite places (Laser tag and Retro nightclub) to share some of my favourite drinks (cocktails)..... I also used some of my favourite MME Portobello road papers for the layout! These are beginning to be in short supply....

June challenge entries

I finally got my camera out of the car to get some photos of my latest challenge entries! As I have endless sets of photos in my stash Im trying to do multi photo layouts as much as possible, using various challenges as inspiration.... The page above was created from Sketch 18 over at Scrap Africa.(below)
The page above was created using the June 1st sketch from Stuck Sketches.

And above are both pages together as a double page spread!
This next double page spread was created for this months challenge over at Scrap around the world. I spread the sketch a little to accommodate all the photos that I needed to display. The mood board inspired the muted colour scheme over the purple as well as the small camera and word embellishments. The challenge board and sketch is shown below:

My creative sketches May challenge - Black Sandy beach

I decided to stretch this months My creative Sketches sketch and scrap my last few photos from Muriwai beach in 2010. I added a couple of extra elements but kept all the circles and placements from the sketch! I used a DCWV background from the last few remaining sheets of my endless summer stack with a whole lot of papers and embellishments from my stash including /bella oriental and Prima patterned papers, Graphic 45 on the boardwalk collection, Green tara metal seashells and Kaisercraft tickets. The sketch is below:

Stuck?! May 15th challenge

Ok so I know I have strayed a long way from the sketch this time! But I loved the butterfly aspect of the sketch and wanted to keep (or wanted an excuse to use this butterfly paper  from the DCWV Photoreal seasons stack. ) I couldnt keep the butterfly and the other elements in place without obscuring the butterfly so I moved them around. I put the banners over to the side and the circle element (shown in close up) with the flowers and photos in the corner.  The sketch and challenge is from Stuck Sketches but my entry is only just out of time!

Stuckonu Sketches -Gannet colony

I decided that the sketch from Stuckonu Sketches this fortnight was perfect to do a double pager with some photos I had from a trip to NZ where we happened upon a gannet colony while visiting a black sandy beach. I combined two of my favourite collections - Kaisercrafts check in and MME Lost and found Portobello Road to get this one done! Sketch is below:
