Autumn 2014 Create To Live Challenge

This is my entry for the MME October sketch challenge (Sketch above).  I rotated the sketch and stretched it to a double page to accommodate 6 x 4 photos. The sketch was alot of fun to work with all the circles and he big arrows. I used my Spread your wings and fly collection kit and some photos my brother in law took while we were on holidays last year!

I am also linking up over at My Sweet Earth "Think outside the box" challenge (also shown above). I kept to the colour scheme from the moodboard and I also thought the sketch with the circles fitted the outside the box theme.

13 Arts October challenge #23

Was so excited to receive my parcel of 13arts goodies this morning! A perfect day to work on the 13Arts challenge for this month....

Jelissa has come up with an awesome challenge- which includes using only white cardstock and embellishments, and all colour must come from paint/ inks/ mists etc. You also need to use a black and white photo and song lyrics or title. I used the lyrics from "Boys of summer" as my journalling.

I have to admit I took a little creative licence with this one, as my photo is more sepia than black and white, and my chipboard started off as, well chipboard colour... and I threw in a very pastel sticker from my new faces of spring collection  -  but below is the initial layout, before spraying anything and before adding a few extra small flowers that arrived in my 'romantic garden' kit...

I am also entering over at Scrap around the world again (my third try haha), as the moodboard has really inspired me this month with the colour choices of deep blues and purples with green, pink and gold on a white background, just like the butterfly!!

The challenge is at http://scraparoundtheworld.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/design-team-mid-month-reveal-october.html

Lastly I am entering over at Lasting memories:
http://kcclayoutchallenges.blogspot.com.au/ for their "anything goes" challenge. Just because I am so happy with this one I want to share it around!

More October Challenges

http://scraparoundtheworld.blogspot.gr/2014/10/october-2014-challenge-18-vibrant.html

Above is this months moodboard from Scrap around the world, which I have so fallen in love with it inspired to create yet another layout based on the blacks, jewel tones and gold. This time I made a double pager (which I have been loving lately, as they use up my piles of holiday pics and keep them together on one spread!) The moodboard was created by Rachel Funnell, whose work constantly inspires me - she is just amazing with colour...

If it inspires you too, you can enter over at

Because I love this layout so much I want to spread it around lol
I am also entering over at Lasting Memories for their 3rd October Challenge "Anything goes" (Well that makes it easy!) It can be entered over at

Lets get Sketchy October week 2

In the spirit of all things coordinated, and my doubles marathon - I was sure this sketch would work perfectly stretched out a little! It was hard to find vertically oriented pictures but eventually I did and above is the result. My sister took these pictures of my family when she bought a new digital SLR and wanted a good chance to test out its capabilities. We were very pleased with the results... I matched them up with my American Crafts "best of" paper pad and came up with this layout. As the papers I used were pre printed I struggled with the circle element on the right, and decided I really wanted to do a rainbow, but of course I didnt have any so I decided to draw this one on vellum, cut it out around the patterns on the paper and colour it with inks. Im very pleased with the result!

The challenge is sponsored by 7 dots studio and Moxxie. both must have collections!!!
You can view and enter the challenge over at:

I am also linking up with one of the Lucky7Factory's Wizard of Oz challenges for this month - the criteria is to use a brilliant red in your layout - which I think I achieved here! They are closing down soon, which is devastating as their papers are so so perfect for party photographs with brights and neons all around. The papers are now on sale, and a massive bargain if you live in the US or Canada....

Lasting Memories October Challenge #2

The theme this week/ last week over at Lasting memories is "beautiful friendships". I was inspired to use up all these photos from my daughters birthday party. She took them herself so the photos are a little off but she and all her friends had a great time. I will fill in the journalling afterwards....

You can enter this great challenge over at :  http://kcclayoutchallenges.blogspot.ca/2014/10/lm-211-beautiful-friendship.html

I used my American crafts "Best of" collection which has been invaluable for all my double pagers! Loving the way double pagers can get rid of whole photo piles quickly!

Some more October challenges

..............................................................................

I spent a good part of today at my best friends house scrapping pages. I have a whole lot of travel photos to get through and figured its a good week for double page spreads wherever possible! This was the first one I completed today. We visited an orphanage in Thailand, where the girls taught the orphans clapping games and rhymes, While they were over there they developed their own little clapping game that was about being Best friends forever.

The above layout was completed for the 123 October Challenge -  board shown above. You can enter over at: http://123-challenge-blog.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/123-october-2014-challenge.html

You can see plenty of apricot in the layout, however the swirls and forever are probably not as obvious... The swirls are on the dark paper used for the tag in the right hand corner and the lace cutout effect bits. It is from the Kaisercraft Tigerlily collection. The word forever appears in the journalling, as I documented their song "BFF BFF, Best friends forever" etc. Feels good to use up a few photos from my never ending collection!!

Te second challenge I entered (below) was for Sassy Scrappers October Moodboard challenge. You can enter over at: http://sassyscrappers1.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/october-moodboard-challenge-supporting.html and for every entry and every purchase in October Sassy Scrappers is donating to the breast cancer foundation so head over and make sure you get your entry in!

The challenge involves using the board to inspire your entry. I have been very lucky that noone I know has been affected by breast cancer so I tried to scrap around using the colour pink. I found this set of photos from a few years back where we were all wearing a whole lot of pink zinc and put together a double layout to display all the photos. Very happy to have another 7 photos out of the pile and into an album!!!

 October Moodboard Challenge

My final layout was created for Lasting Memories First October Challenge, with the theme of "Natures Glory" - document animals or scenery. I decided to use some photos from a waterfall in Thailand to go with this challenge.... You can enter it over at http://kcclayoutchallenges.blogspot.com.au/2014/09/lm-210-natures-glory.html

Cest Magnifique/ Lucky 7 Factory October Challenge

This is my entry for the Cest Magnifique October sketch challenge (shown above). I have also been challenging myself to use up my supply of beautiful papers that I purchased and were just too pretty to use....  This is one of them, matched up with a whole lot of offcuts I have held onto! This sketch was just perfect for layering up offcuts and downsizing my massive collection of them haha

You can enter this challenge by linking up over at http://cestmagnifiquekits.blogspot.ca/2014/10/our-october-sketch-challenge.html

I am also entering over at the Lucky 7 Factory. They have 16 challenges going this month - with a wizard of Oz theme and this may be one of the last chances ever to win their amazing collections as they are closing down soon (devastated) This challenge is titled "ironman" and the criteria is to use hearts. I used one of my stencils to spray some hearts onto my background, and outlined them in pen to show up on the crowded background....

Prima build a page October

2014 October BAP Jennifer....
I received my new Prima collections in the post a couple of days ago and couldn't wait to begin creating with it! This is my first creation with the Seashore collection kit using Jennifer Snyders beautiful sketch above! It was lucky as I already had this circular photo cut and ready for a different project but had decided to go with something different, so I made the circle element my photo ...

Scrap the girls October Challenge

This is my layout for the October challenge over at Scrap the girls: http://www.scrap-the-girls.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/october-challenge-and-sponsors.html

I was very inspired by this stunning mood board, and was inspired by the theme of "shine on" as well as used the yellowy stars to represent the yellow glasses in number 3, the background for the colours in number 4 and the deep purple flowers and the colours in the photo to represent the flowers shown in picture 5!
Im so in love with the colours in this one!

Scrap africa October Sketch challenge

.....

I was so thrilled to see the sketch challenge (above) over at Scrap Africa this month! Its coming into summer here, and I just received my Graphic 45 By the sea and Prima Seashore collections this morning! I also added a few pieces from Kaisercraft collections and other bits and pieces I found to make this layout - which I am very proud of...

Lets get Sketchy October Challenge #1

This is my entry for the first weeks challenge over at Lets Get Sketchy! I love doing simple pages for travel photos, and will probably do a second page to match this one with the rest of the photos....

My daughter and her friend were posing in a hammock they found in Thailand while visiting the caves.

You can enter this great challenge over at
There are some really awesome prizes!

Scrap around the World/ Lucky7Factory October chalenge

......

This is my entry for the Scrap around the world October challenge - using the stunning moodboard shown above! You can enter over at http://scraparoundtheworld.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/october-2014-challenge-18-vibrant.html

I was inspired by a lot of things in the moodboard.... to begin with I was inspired by the quote about dancing to use a photo of my children dancing with the Thai dancers at a show in Bangkok. The photo also had fairy lights above reminiscent of the ones in the mood board, but I ended up cutting off the top of the photo....

I was also inspired by the jewel, gold and black tones on the butterfly to make the background for the layout. I sprayed the background with similar colour sprays and then stencilled over the top in black gesso. I added everything I had in deep jewel tones and sprayed some chipboard cogs in gold to layer under the papers. I added some sparkling ribbons and the last of my beautiful Inkido flowers (so sad that Inkido has finished up) and sprayed the layering with some more gold mist.

Last of all I added the black starry background behind the page  - the top is cropped off a little...

All in all its a very different layout for me, and I found it very difficult to match the tones in the inspiration photo! Wouldnt mind trying the same background directly onto black cardstock with a mask!

I am also entering this layout over at the Lucky 7 Factory.... This is another of my absolute favourite brands who are unfortunately closing down soon. Their Technologie collection is the only one I have found that works with alot of my night time/party/ disco photos with bright neon tones. They have 16 challenges going this month based on the wizard of oz and you can win their collections. This is being entered in Challenge #6 (Toto) the requirement is to add ribbons to the page. You can enter over at http://thelucky7factory.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/defi-no-6-toto.html

Stuck?! / Color me scrappy combined October challenge

This is my entry into both Stuck Sketches October challenge (http://stucksketches.blogspot.co.nz/2014/10/october-1st-challenge-and-little-extra.html)

and Color Me Scrappy October Challenge (http://color-me-scrappy.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/cms-challenge-71.html)

Both Challenges shown above.

It took me awhile to figure out what to do with this challenge... I dont have any "fall" photos, but eventually found this picture of Thai monks in my stash. When you give them food or money they sing you a blessing, all these tiny monks dressed in orange... It seemed to work well with the colour scheme!

Once Upon A sketch/ Pixels and Paper October challenge

Pixels and Paper October Inspiration

Above is my combined entry for the Pixels and Paper October Challenge: http://pixelsandpaperchallengeblog.blogspot.com.au/ and this months Once Upon A Sketch Challenge: http://onceuponasketchblog.blogspot.com.br/2014/10/october-challenge.html

I started with the Pixels and Paper inspiration image. As Im not keen on scrapbooking teapots the challenge inspired me to use the closest thing - a teacup embellishment, and I had the perfect paper collection in Tildas "Garden Party" Collection. When I found the perfect photo to match the paper collection it happened to be an old shot of my sisters, from when we were younger. So I then decided to add in the Once Upon A sketch October Criteria of journalling about " The girls/ women in our lives" I wrote about how my sisters and I share a special bond and are always there for each other. I also followed the sketch from OUAS.

For the first time in a long time I actually managed to photograph my layout during the daytime, so I got a decent picture - aside from the fact that the layout was not flat due to all the spraying etc and so the right side does not look as straight as it actually is!
